It's disappointing but not surprising. The debate in the senate is shaping up to be a tough battle. Everyone who is opposed to this should be emailing and calling their representatives. I have a liberal cousin who told me that blogs are meant to be written but not read so I am probably writing this for myself but I don't really care. I'm calling and emailing and if anyone is reading this, well then do the same.

If this passes the senate, it will be signed into law by Barry O and then the sky is the limit for what the left will do to our liberties. However, if you want to try to see a silver lining in this dark cloud, I think there is one. Despite the protests, the demonstrations and the polls showing that only 30% of the American people are for this, our great leader, in his infinite wisdom, along with his socialist hangers on and the libs in congress are pushing this through. In my opinion, all things considered, it stands to reason that there are going to be plenty of democratic seats moving into the Republican/Conservative column next year, in both chambers. I just hope and pray that it is not too little, too late.

Did anyone see Obama's press conference following the Islamic terrorist attack at Ft. Hood? He walked to the podium and proceeded to rave about some conference that was held that day, even giving a "shout out" to someone in the audience. I kept waiting, then FINALLY, maybe 2 minutes after starting, maybe just 30 seconds, I can't say for certain, he mentioned the tragedy and asked that we keep the victims and their families in our thoughts and prayers. I don't know about you but I think that was TACKY, TACKY, TACKY. The attack at Ft. Hood should have been the topic that he OPENED with. Seriously? You want to give a shout out to someone first, Mr. Obama?

It is the twentieth anniversary of the fall of the Berlin wall. Why does Obama not think this is worthy to attend? It was a major blow to communism. I can't imagine why he would dismiss this. Well, yes I can, but I'm sure I'm just being paranoid. But then again, technically, I guess there are differences between communism and socialism so I'm sure you can abhor one and embrace the other. Still, it's a curious decision on his part. Just sayin'.

Now it's time to bash the right wing. Sitting here in Pensacola, we're waiting on a very late season tropical storm to make landfall sometime in the morning. This has to be related to "Global Warming", no? Although, I think the politically correct term now is "Climate Change", which will probably hold until we have a few really bad winters, then we'll be facing a "New Global Ice Age". If only Al Gore had won in 2000, this would be a non-issue, I'm certain of it.

How 'bout them Cowboys.

Tomorrow is a big day

It's not super-Tuesday, or a mid-term election, but tomorrow, Tuesday, November 3, 2009 is going to be a big day nevertheless. It's been almost a year since Emperor Barry O was elected in what could best be described as a slap on the collective wrist of the political status quo. Unfortunately, during that year, nothing good has happened and fortunately, people are realizing this. In the Virgina Governor's race, Republican McDonnell is looking good for a victory. In New Jersey, the news may not be so good for Republican Christy in his bid for Governor. It's a tight race, but there may be a spoiler in Independent candidate Chris Daggett. If both races go against the Democrats, though, look for things to get very interesting over the next year. It is an opinion held by many that a vote for the Conservatives in these races will send a clear message to the Obama administration and to the Democratic majority.

Finally, it looks like the party-line Republicans have been busy wiping egg off of their faces. I already mentioned in my first post, the NY 23 special election. The Republican candidate, Scazzofava, a Republican in name only, drew support of Newt and many other big names in the party. The problem, Scazzofava is as liberal as Barney Frank. No matter, she's Republican and apparently, that's the most important factor. Well thank God for Sarah Palin, Mitt Romney and Fred Thompson (among others) who decided that instead of supporting a fellow Republican in the NY 23 race, they would support the Conservative candidate, an Independent named Doug Hoffman. In what I thought was a selfless move, Scazzofava dropped out of the race. Good for her. Not so fast, though. While the Republicans previously backing her have jumped behind Hoffman en masse, Scazzofava has decided that she should back her former Democratic opponent. Right now, the race can go for Hoffman or the Democrat. I'm praying that Hoffman can pull out a win but I think what happened in this race is a PERFECT example of how wrong things are with the Republican party right now. We need a real paradigm shift in the party or we need a legitimate CONSERVATIVE third party.

One last thing... I recently had the pleasure of meeting Henry Kelley, an independent trying to get his name on the ballot to run for Congress in 2010 against incumbent Republican Jeff Miller (Florida, District 1). Go to his website and see what he's all about. Miller has proven to be a politician and we just don't need that anymore. If you want to find out more about Mr. Kelley, his website is ElectHenry.com

let's get it started...

I am ashamed to say that I will be 38 in April and I am just now becoming concerned with the political system. I have never missed an opportunity to vote during an election, but the time has come for everyone like me to stand up and voice our opinions. When I say "like me" I mean people who care about their country and freedoms but who don't carry that patriotism any further than their nearest precinct on election day. We need to organize against the organizers and take action. What they were doing in the 60's, we need to do today.

I want to talk about a few things:

(1) The "War on Fox" is about the mid-term elections and to an extent the 2012 Presidential elections as well. If Obama doesn't get health care legislation passed, they (the democrats) will be in big trouble and they know it. If the administration was smart, you'd think they would not want to alienate the network with the highest ratings and a viewership with the most diverse political leanings.

(2) Think about this for a hot minute... Look at our 2009 budget deficit. In case you don't know, it was 1.42 TRILLION for the 2009 budget year which ended on September 30. Tell me how health care legislation won't drive this number higher. We still have cap and trade coming up for debate. All of this is going to hurt, not help, the deficit. Now if the libs really think this deficit is sustainable, then they are too stupid to be in position of leadership. Stupidity, I would prefer. But these people are not that stupid. They have an agenda and that is scarier than simply believing that they are naive regarding the actual costs. When Obama used the words "spread the wealth" in his spontaneous exchange with "Joe the Plumber", I figured it was just a slip of the tongue, but in retrospect, it was his entire political policy summed up and a lot of us failed to see it. I know I did. What do all of the wealthy celebrities, athletes and politicians that support the current administration think is going to happen to their finances if Obama's socialist agenda is realized?

(3) Republicans need to be less concerned about getting "their guy" into office and more concerned with getting "the conservative" into office. I realize that in many cases a vote for the independent candidate has been tantamount to voting for the democrat. Having said that, it is time for a shift in thought. A race in upstate NY has a liberal democrat, a very liberal republican and an independent conservative and support within the upper echelons of the Republican party are split. For the record, I am with Palin (supports the independent conservative) on this one and not Newt (supports the liberal republican).

(4) Our republic is on the precipice of CHANGE. It is unavoidable. It will either be the change that Obama will deliver or it will be the change that WE THE PEOPLE will deliver... We the people who value the liberties that so many of us, myself included, have taken for granted... We the people who, with heavy but willing hearts, send our sons and daughters into harm's way to protect those aforementioned liberties... We the people who selflessly serve this great nation in all corners of the world... We the people who believe that the intent of our founders in no way resembles the intent of our current or even recent administrations... We the people who go through each day knowing that we are truly BLESSED to live in the USA... We the people who believe that "In God We Trust" is not just something written on our currency but something that was written on the hearts of those early colonists who fought for freedom from British rule.

Things look grim but it's not too late. If I may be so bold as to "borrow" some of the campaign slogans used by the current President, can we keep this great nation on the right track and continue to be that beacon of hope that millions of people the world over look to? Yes WE can! Only when elected officials decide to worry more about standing up in defense of the Constitution and less about re-election, only when our leaders stop apologizing to the rest of the world and only when citizens who are truly concerned with maintaining their freedoms begin to speak out will we be able to really have "change we can believe in".

What else can I say but God Bless America. End of rant, but there is more to come.
